A young woman and her paramour were arrested for allegedly killing her husband two months ago in Nowgam area of the city, a police official said today.
Abroo Shafi, a property dealer, was believed to have died of natural causes on March 11 at his home in Nowgam but the unusual behaviour of his widow, Asifa, raised suspicion of the family, he said.
"During the course of investigation, it came to light that Asifa and her paramour Tanveer Molvi, a prayer leader at a local mosque, had killed Shafi after giving some tablets to him," the official said.
He said it was the call detail records of the woman, who has a six-year-old daughter, which established the connection between Asifa and Tanveer, a resident of Lelhaar in Pulwama district.
The body of the victim has been exhumed for conducting a postmortem, he added.
