- Woman kills husband with lover’s help, arrested
The accused are Patlavath Saroja a tailor from Abdullapurmet; B Narsimha, 30, an RTC driver of Devarakonda Depot; and his cousin, B Ramakrishna, 27, a school bus driver.
The victim was, P Prasad Babu, 38, an auto driver from Abdullapurmet. On October 7, the victim’s father lodged a complaint with police. Prasad also used to run chit fund business and due to mismanagement of business, he ended up debt. As pressure started mounting from money lenders, Prasad started staying separately from his wife. During this time, Saroja became close to Narsimha.
On October 6, Narsinha and Ramakrishna came to Prasad’s house offering to finance his business. They made Prasad consume liquor and then strangled him with a towel, Vanasthalipuram police said.

Enough is enough, end RTC strike: HC to state, workers
A bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A Abhishek Reddy told the workers that it could declare the strike as illegal if it continues and gave both sides time till October 18 to amicably resolve the issue.
The bench also said the state can’t argue that the striking workers had self-dismissed themselves by continuing the strike. "It should behave like a model employer," the bench said. "And workers, particularly those working in essential services such as RTC, can’t strike work at will. This is an illegal strike. If we declare the strike as illegal, then the ramifications will be bad for workers. It is better that they call off the strike on their own."
The state counsel however said that they had not started termination proceedings.
The bench criticised the state government’s ‘all is well’ argument. "According to your latest RTC affidavit, you have a fleet of nearly 10,000 buses. Even after 10 days of the strike, you are running only 6,000," the bench said. "That means you are unable to run 4,000 buses. It pains us to see your workers taking their lives. We request you to start the process of negotiation immediately," the bench added and asked both advocate general B S Prasad and additional advocate general J Ramachandra Rao to convey this to the state government.
"In times of conflict, people lose tempers and display insubordination. Do not take it seriously," the bench said addressing the state.
The state counsel ruled out the possibility of acceding to the demand of merging the corporation into the state government. "If we agree to this, tomorrow some other corporation workers may seek the same, the state counsel said.
The counsel for the workers, D Prakash Reddy, said the strike was the last resort. "We gave a strike notice a month ago but nothing came of it," he said. "We are waiting for the state to respond. All we have received so far are threats of self-dismissal and serious consequences. Some of our demands are simple, like appointing a regular MD to RTC so that we can approach him, and replacing outdated old buses with new ones."
The bench refused to sail with the argument of the petitioner’s counsel P V Krishnaiah that there are three accidents by new drivers. The judges told him that there were accidents even during normal times. The bench also enquired about the appointment of a negotiator (TRS MP K Keshava Rao) by the state. Prakash Reddy said that the negotiator too was waiting for the state’s nod.
This was bound to happen! Judiciary cannot remain a mute spectator. The Govt will get a good dressing down in this PIL
It's not enough, what could courts do during the foolish movement that lasted for 6 years ago.
AP: Boy dies while quack tries to ‘enhance brain’
Out of the four children who were treated by the quack, Haranath, a class 10 student from Kadapa, died while three others have now been admitted to Andhra Hospital. Police said it was unclear whether Haranath died due to the treatment given by Rao or due to some other ailment as he had been complaining of stomach pain.
Police said Haranath was brought to the lodge by his parents after he complained of stomach pain and was not able to focus on studies.
The ACP said the accused made the kids take a pill he prescribed every one hour and asked them to stay in the lodge for 15 days. A day later, Haranath collapsed while sitting in a chair. When the parents told Rao that their son was dead, he denied it and continued to massage the body.
The body has now been sent to Vijayawada Government General Hospital for post-mortem. According to police, Rao neither has a degree in naturopathy nor held any qualification to provide treatment. The police have collected statements from parents and guardians of the children.
People should be educated and bring awareness among thrmselves so that they wont believe in such quackery methods.
