ROORKEE: A mother of three children along with her paramour was arrested by Roorkee police on Tuesday for murdering her husband. Deceased Jasbeer's brother Bharat Singh alleged in his police complaint that Jasbeer's 30-year-old wife Ruma was romantically involved with a 24-year-old youth named Sonu. The duo, on January 25, made Jasbeer drink pesticide-mixed liquor and then strangulated him to death.

Ruma, a resident of Toda Kalyanpur village, and Sonu, a resident of Nagal in Saharanpur, worked together in an electric switch factory at Sidcul in Haridwar where they fell for each other and decided to eliminate Jasbeer out of their way.

"They (accused) orchestrated a plan for killing Jasbeer. Ruma and Sonu reached Roorkee from Haridwar together on January 25 evening and Ruma called her husband to meet her in a field near Dhandera railway crossing where Sonu offered him a pesticide-mixed liquor. Soon after, Jasbeer became unconscious and Ruma strangled Jasbeer's throat," said Amarjeet Singh, in-charge of Civil Lines police station.

Next day, the family of the deceased recovered Jasbeer's body from the field. Without informing the police into the matter, the family cremated body in the village on January 26, assuming his death may have been done due to ongoing severe cold.
