Perturbed over attempts to defame her 17-year-old daughter, a 35-year-old woman allegedly strangled her ‘boyfriend’ to death, with the help of her daughter’s lover in Aurangshahpur Diggi area on April 22, said police.
On Friday, the police claimed that it had solved the case by arresting the accused woman, Shamim, 35, and her daughter’s boyfriend, Musahid, 20.
The police recovered the body of Rajeev, alias Raju, 32, from a farm in Meerut’s Aurangshahpur Diggi area on April 22, said the police.
"During investigation, we found that Rajeev, who worked as a tractor driver at a farm, had an affair with Shamim who also worked at the farm. Shamim had a daughter who used to accompany her to the farm to work," said SSP Nitin Tiwari told media persons.
Shamim’s daughter had an affair with Musahid, who also worked at the farm. Rajeev, however, was against their relationship, Tiwari said.
Rajeev allegedly used to publicly taunt Shamim’s daughter over her affair making her feel humiliated. He also became suspicious about Shamim and would often ask her about her relationships with other men, said cops.
Shamim was upset over Rajeev’s behaviour, said the SSP.
Rajeev also used to get involved in fights with Musahid over his affair with Shamim’s daughter.
"During interrogation, Shamim and Musahid revealed that they had bitter feelings towards Rajeev. Both of them planned Rajeev’s murder and took him to the farm around 9 pm on April 22. After plying him with alcohol and getting Rajeev drunk, they choked him to death," said the police.
"Both the suspects have been arrested," added the SSP.
