LUDHIANA: The plumber of Khanna’s Ramgarh Sardaran village who went missing a month ago was murdered by his wife and her paramour. The Khanna police on Sunday arrested both the accused — Sukhwinder Kaur, 32, and Baljit Singh, 25, of Kaleka village.
The police said after the victim, Satish Kumar, 35, saw his wife in an objectionable condition with her paramour, both gagged him to death and threw his body and motorcycle into Doraha canal to make it look like an accident.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said on September 14, Sukhwinder had lodged a complaint with Malaud police that her husband, a plumber in a company in Himachal Pradesh, had been missing since September 4. The police, after receiving the complaint, started search for Satish, but to no avail.

Dhaiya said, "On October 20, Satish’s aunt — Kaushalya Devi of Ghungrana village — contacted the police and told that Sukhwinder had illicit relations with Baljit, a labourer, and that Satish knew about it. Kaushalya said on August 30, while returning from Himachal Pradesh, Satish had stayed at her home. During his stay, he had told her about his wife’s affair."

After recording her statement, the police took Sukhwinder into custody. During questioning, she confessed to have eliminated Satish with the help of Baljit.

The officer said, "Satish already knew about his wife’s affair. And on September 4, when he returned home from Himachal Pradesh, he saw his wife with her paramour in an objectionable condition. Sukhwinder and Baljit then overpowered Satish and shoved a piece of cloth into his mouth. While Sukhwinder held him from his legs, Baljit smothered him to death with a pillow. They took the body on a motorcycle and dumped it in the canal near Chaminda village. Then they threw Satish’s motorcycle also in it."

Satish had married Sukhwinder 10 years ago and the couple had three children.
