LUCKNOW: A 26-year-old man hanged himself after he was allegedly thrashed by his in-laws for going to their home to bring back his wife on 'Karwa Chauth' in Krishnanagar on late Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Mohit Rawat, an employee of a tours and travels company. Rawat's mother Savitri has lodged an FIR of murder against his son's in-laws.
Mohit lived with his wife Preeti and parents in Bandikheda area of Krishnanagar. After a tiff with Mohit, his wife Preeti left for her paerent's home in Aashiana at around 8.30pm on Saturday informing him through a text message. Mohit tried to persuade her on phone but she did not stop. Later, Mohit went to Aashiana to bring Preeti back, said police.
"Mohit returned alone around 1am and told us that Preeti won't come back ever. He said that her parents and brother would not let her stay with me anymore. He also told us that he was beaten up by Preeti's brother and father. Then he went to sleep. He did not get up in the morning, we knocked the door but got no reply. When the door was broken, Mohit was found hanging from the ceiling fan," said Savitri in her complaint to police.

"My son has been murdered by his wife and family," Savitri alleged.
Circle officer, Krishnanagar, Lal Pratap Singh said that a murder case has been lodged against the brother and father of Preeti on Savitri's complaint. "We are waiting for the autopsy report for going ahead with our probe," he said.
