BENGALURU: A 29-year-old housemaid and her lover were arrested on charges of murdering her husband at their rented house in Chikkabegur on Saturday.
The accused — Shanti K, a resident of Chikkabegur and from Bhadravati, and plumber-neighbour Kahimuddeen Barbhuyiya, 19, from Assam — conspired and killed Kannappa, 35, who was unemployed, police said. Probe revealed Shanti had an extramarital affair with neighbour Kahimuddeen and Kannappa came to know about it recently.
Kannappa questioned his wife about it, which soon led to fights between them. Following this, Shanti conspired with Kahimuddeen to kill her husband. At 6am on Saturday, Shanti told her lover that Kannappa was sleeping and asked him to murder him before leaving for work, cops said.
Kahimuddeen entered Kannappa’s residence with a stone and crushed his head before fleeing the spot. The incident came to light when the victim’s five-year-old son found his father dead and alerted neighbours. Kannappa was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to injuries. During preliminary probe, Begur police found out about Shanti’s role in the incident.
