HYDERABAD: A feud between an Army couple ended in murder in the city on Saturday night. A former lieutenant colonel, also a doctor, has now been arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband, a former Army captain, to death at their villa in Bandlaguda.
Cyberabad police said that the victim, Vishal Dewan (43), was a senior security manager with Johnson and Johnson and had retired as an Army captain. The accused, Sabina Roshan (50), is a doctor who had retired earlier as a lieutenant colonel.
At 10.45 pm, Rajendranagar police received a call on 'Dial 100' from Sabina Roshan's 23-year-old daughter informing about the stabbing at their house (Number 129, Maple Town Villas) near Sun City, Bandlaguda.
Victim’s step-daughter alerted neighboursWe rushed to the spot and came to know that family members along with neighbours had rushed Vishal to a nearby hospital in a car where he was declared dead," Rajendranagar inspector G Suresh said.
Police then took Sabina into custody after questioning her in the presence of woman cops.
"Sabina confessed to have committed the crime. On Saturday night, there was an argument between the couple. Sabina was in an inebriated condition. During the argument, Vishal went to the children’s room, where his 23-year-old stepdaughter and 12-year-old son were present. Sabina came from behind with a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest," he added.
"She claimed her husband tortured her physically and emotionally. She said she had suffered a slipped disc due to his assault last month," the inspector said.
As Vishal collapsed on the floor with a bleeding injury, the 23-year-old ran out of the house and alerted neighbours. With their help, Vishal was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said. Police said Sabina took voluntary retirement about five years ago when she was Lt Colonel, while Vishal retired in 2006 after six years of service when he was a Captain.
According to police, Sabina and Vishal are from Uttarakhand and about 15 years ago Sabina married Vishal, which was her second marriage. "We spoke to Sabina’s two children, who were witnesses, and they confirmed that the couple has been passing through turbulent times. We have arrested the accused and she will be sent in judicial remand. After an autopsy, the body was handed over to his family and his final rights were performed on Sunday," the inspector said.
