HUBBALLI: A woman
allegedly murdered her two children in Nava Ayodhya Nagar here on Wednesday. Police have arrested the mother and her lover in connection with the case.
It’s learnt that Chaitra Hulkoti was upset after a family dispute and strangled her son Rohit, 6, and daughter Rohini, 5 when her husband Parashuram Hulkoti had gone to work.
Later she took both the children to KIMS
saying they had fallen unconscious. However, doctors at KIMS suspected that it was a medico-legal case and insisted that she inform the police. Finally, she herself told police that she had killed her children.
Following the incident, Chaitra’s neighbours rushed to Old Hubballi
police station and demanded police to arrest the culprits.
DCP (law and order) Ravindra Gadadi told TOI that both Chaitra and Parashuram were taken into custody and interrogated over the incident.
"Chaitra herself has confessed to the crime. Earlier, we were told that she was in depression. However, her husband Parashuram has complained that she was in an illicit relationship with another man and the children had seen her in a compromising position with that man. Fearing that the children would reveal it to others, she murdered both, Parashuram said. However, we are still investigating the case," he added.
