MEERUT: Four days after an Army jawan
was shot at and seriously injured, local police on Sunday booked his wife, her paramour and another person for the crime in city’s Ganganagar area.
Police claimed that they have established "active role" of Army jawan Sunil Kumar’s wife in the attack
Kumar, posted with 9 Jat Regiment in Assam, was shot at by two unidentified gunmen who allegedly tried to loot jewellery from his wife on Sunday evening.
"Sunil’s wife was having an extra-marital affair which was the bone of contention between the couple. Wife along with paramour hatched conspiracy to murder Kumar who is currently under observation at military hospital in Meerut," Chakrapani Tripathi, circle officer (CO) told TOI.
Police said that all the three accused, wife and two assailants, have been booked under section 307 (attempt to murder) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code
(IPC). They will be arrested soon, the CO said.
