A 33-year-old dermatologist, Donthamsetti Lavanya, and her seven-year-old son, Nishant, slipped into a coma and later died in Andhra Pradesh’s Rajahmundry after she gave an overdose of sleeping pills to him and also consumed the same.

Lavanya was married to another doctor of Telangana. Lately, the couple developed disputes, and she left his house and was living with her doctor father D. Buddha in Rajahmundry.

The husband had allegedly sent her a divorce notice, which might have become a trigger for her to kill her son and herself, police sources said. The police have registered a case and are probing the deaths.
