Cops suspect her of poisoning, strangling him, say she made up burglary angle.
A twenty-two-year-old woman in Kalyan has allegedly killed her husband by poisoning him, and later strangling him. The police said she later made up a story about thieves breaking into their home and killing her husband.
The police detained Vrushali Jagdish Salunkhe, and said they would soon arrest her for allegedly killing her husband, Jagdish. They said they are also investigating if anybody else was involved in the crime.
According to the Kolsewadi police in Kalyan, the incident occurred in Usha-Sadan Co-Operative Society, near Durga Temple, Kolsewadi, Kalyan East.
The police said on March 6, they were informed about the death of Jagdish Salunkhe, who worked in a pharma company in Ambernath, Thane.
Initially, Vrushali, had told police that thieves had entered their apartment and killed her husband.
Later, after the postmortem report came out, the cops learned that poison was found in Jagdish’s body, and there were strangulation marks on his neck. They also said in the past too, Jagdish had experienced discomfort after eating food his wife served him, and had spat it out. At that time, too, police suspect Vrushali may have tried to poison her husband.
"When we questioned her several times, she admitted to committing the crime. We also have information that the couple had married on December 29, 2018, and that their marriage wasn’t going well," said ACP Anil Powar of the Kalyan Division.
"Initially, we had registered an accidental death report, as nothing had gone missing from the house. But we will now register a murder case and arrest her soon," Powar said.
