After sustained interrogation, the minor told police that his father, Ranjit Lal, a resident of Uttarakhand's Chamoli, was addicted to liquor. He said that his mother and elder sister used to work as domestic help but Ranjit used to harass them for money to buy liquor.
Since childhood, he had witnessed domestic violence inside his house and was not happy with his father's behaviour.
About 3-4 days ago, Ranjit had again physically assaulted his wife and daughter, following which the duo left him alone in the flat and went to their uncle's house in Shakurpur.
Following the incident, the minor went to his landlord Jitesh Gupta and narrated the entire story, asking him for help. Jitesh then called Nitin and Aditya, gave them a baseball bat and bamboo stick for attacking Ranjit.
It was around 11.30 pm that the minor along with the other two went to the flat where Ranjit was lying on the bed in a drunk state. They attacked him with the baseball bat and bamboo stick, leaving him profusely bleeding. The trio then fled the spot.
