RAJKOT: Nearly six months after 24-year-old auto mechanic hanged himself to death at his residence in Merav village of Mandvi taluka in Kutch, police booked five members of a family, including three women, for abatement of suicide on Thursday.
The suicide of Ishwar Bharya registered at Mandvi police station took a surprising turn when father of the deceased, Raisinh Bharya, approached Mandvi police on Thursday and accused a married woman, her husband, younger sister and parents of forcing Ishwar to commit suicide. Raisinh alleged that the married woman, who was is relationship with Ishwar, was forcing his son to marry her disabled sister. The accused also threatened to make viral a video of intimate moments of Ishwar and married woman if he did not marry the latter’s disabled sister.
Mandvi police has booked Bhavna Dafda, a mother of three children in her mid 30s, her husband Hasmukh, younger sister Manju, her parents — father Meghraj and mother Padmabai — for abatement of suicide and begun probe. They are yet to be arrested.
Ishwar had hanged himself to death at his house in Merav village in August last year. Ishwar’s father lodged a complaint against the accused on Thursday after he got call details of his son’s mobile phones. The call details had revealed that Iswhar had four mobile numbers out of which he used one number to talk for hours with the two sisters. Raisinh also came to know about his affair with Bhavna after he inquired with Ishwar’s friends and colleagues.
According to case details, Ishwar was working as an auto mechanic in Mandvi since three years and was in relationship with his neighbour Bhavna.
Raisinh has alleged in his police complaint that Bhavna was forcing Ishwar to have sexual relation with her and also demanding money from him.
The complaint states that Bhavna’s younger sister Manju was in love with Ishwar. Bhavna and her parents Meghraj and Padmabai were forcing Ishwar to marry Manju. In August last year, before Ishwar ended life, Manju had attempted suicide.
Raisinh alleged that Manju’s parents had asked Ishwar to pay the hospital bill for Manju’s treatment. They also alleged that Manju attempted suicide as Ishwar refused to marry her. Manju’s parents also threatened to make a video of him and Bhavna viral on social media to get him booked for rape. After the incident, Bhavna and her husband Hamukh used to constantly harass Ishwar by asking him to marry Manju.
When contacted, Mandvi police inspector M J Jalu told TOI, "We got the call detail of Iswhar, who had come in contact with Manju because she used to come to live with Bhavna. We are gathering more evidence regarding the allegation made by Ishwar’s father."
