Representative imageNEW DELHI: A 22-year-old woman strangled her six-year-old son from her marriage with her estranged husband and dumped the body with the help of her live-in partner. They found it difficult to bear the child’s expenses. Cops arrested her two days after the body was recovered from a drain in Khajuri Khas.
On Thursday, the child was thrashed by the woman’s partner due to which he had fallen unconscious after which they decided to murder him.
Police arrested Priyanka, her boyfriend Dheeraj and his associate Pradeep with the help of CCTV footage recovered from the area where the body was dumped. It showed a grey Eeco car in which they had fled. Investigation revealed that the car was registered in Pradeep’s name. He later confessed to helping Priyanka and Dheeraj dump the body. The couple were tracked down and arrested.
DCP (north-east) Ved Prakash Surya said that a case under sections of murder and destruction of evidences has been registered.
During interrogation, Priyanka told the cops that she strangled the child to death after he fainted when Dheeraj hit him a few times. Priyanka had two children from her previous marriage with an employee of a gas agency. She had been staying with Dheeraj along with her children for the past few months. Dheeraj used to work part time with a confectionary shop and was struggling to make ends meet.
On Thursday, Dheeraj got upset with the child who was nagging over food and started thrashing him, due to which he fell unconscious.
Instead of taking him to the hospital, the couple decided to strangle him. They then stuffed the body into a sack and decided to dump it. Dheeraj contacted his colleague Pradeep and lent his car in which they carried the body to the drain near Khajuri Khas and dumped it.
The child was identified after the arrest and the body was cremated on Friday after an autopsy.
