GHAZIABAD: A 33-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly strangling her abusive husband in Chaman Vihar colony in Tronica City. The 45-year-old fridge mechanic allegedly used to beat his wife regularly after consuming alcohol, police said.
Police said they reached the couple's two-storied house in Chaman Vihar on Wednesday after being alerted by neighbours that the fridge mechanic, Zakir, had committed suicide.

"We, however, noticed strangulation marks on his neck. Upon persistent questioning, his wife Rani broke down and confessed to her crime," said Anil Kumar, DSP Ghaziabad. Rani told police that on Tuesday night, she laced his dinner with sedatives and later strangled him with a cloth when he fell asleep.

She also said she had decided to murder Zakir not only because he was alcoholic and abusive, but also because he was planning to sell off their 45-sq-yd house. An FIR under Section 302 (murder) of IPC was lodged against her .

The accused brave helpless woman should be immediately released, buy the Police, by showing that what she did was in self-defence. All those men, who abuse and beat their wives, deserve the same fate. If they are still alive, they should be immediately arrested and sent to jail for life.
