JAIPUR: The Shivdaspura police on Sunday arrested three men who beat up a 50-year-old contractor of a timber and wood factory over suspicion of an illicit affair.
DCP (South) Mridul Kachawa said that the victim, Bhera Ram Dewasi’s body was discovered on Sunday morning. The Shivdaspura police arrived at the scene and examined the crime scene and informed the FSL units to collect evidence. Kachawa said that a team of as many as 20 cops examined the CCTVs of the factory, and learned that the victim used to stay within the factory compound.
The police then arrested three accused, identified as Mahesh Kumar (25), Raj Kumar (22), and Mulayam Lal (22).
According to the police, the main accused in the case is Mahesh. He lived in the same factory with his wife and worked as a labourer. He had spotted his wife speaking to Dewasi inside the factory about 10 days ago. Mahesh thought that his wife was having an extramarital affair with Dewasi.
The police said that Mahesh had spoken to his wife about the same but she denied that she had any relation with Dewasi. Mahesh, however, continued to suspect the victim of having an affair with his wife and plotted to kill Dewasi.
Late on Saturday night, Mahesh asked his friends Raj and Mulayam to meet him. All three of them consumed liquor and attacked Dewasi with sticks and rods when the latter was fast asleep.
Dewasi was killed on the spot while the accused fled from the secne. The police said that the entire murder mystery was cracked in less than five hours with the arrest of three accused. As per Kachawa, the police had also discovered blood-stained footprints near the crime secne. The station house officers (SHOs) of nearby police stations were also roped in, they quizzed nearby people and workers.
"All three accused who killed the victim have been arrested. The further investigation is being carried out including additional interrogation with the accused," Kachawa said.
