Ghaziabad: Buxar District Magistrate Mukesh Pandey commits suicide
District Magistrate of Buxar, Mukesh Pandey today commited suicide at a railway station in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad area.
District Magistrate of Bihar's Buxar, Mukesh Pandey today committed suicide at a railway station in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad area.
Reports said that Mukesh Pandey had left Buxar two days ago, informing the officials that he would be visiting Patna. The Bihar state secretariat was unaware about his presence in Ghaziabad. Pandey, a 2012-batch IAS officer, hailed from Bihar's Chhapra.
Mukesh Pandey had left behind a suicide note which read, "I am committing suicide in district centre area of Janakpuri, west Delhi near Hotel Piccadilly by jumping off the 10th floor of the building. I am fed up with my life. I don't believe in human existence anymore. I am sorry. I love you all! pleas forgive me!"
In his message, Pandey also added that he had left his suicide note in a Nike bag, in Room No. 742 of Hotel Leela Palace.
- Mukesh Pandey said he is fed up with his life and decided to commit suicide.
- He sent a WhatsApp message to a relative saying that he is going to jump off from the 10th floor of a building in Delhi's Janakpuri.
- His relative immediately informs the Delhi Police.
- By the time the police team reached the location, Mukesh Pandey had left.
- The Buxar District Magistrate's body was recovered from the railway tracks, in Ghaziabad.
- Police sent his body for post-mortem.
- Pandey was promoted as Buxar DM on July 31. This was his first posting as a District Magistrate.
POLICE'S VERSION
"At 6:30 PM, we got to know through his friends that IAS officer Mukesh Pandey may commit suicide. We immediately reached at the district centre but found nothing", said a police officer.
The officer added that the CCTV footages were also checked.
"In one footage, Pandey is seen coming out of the Westin Mall at around 5:55 PM. Then we checked more CCTV footages and found him moving towards the metro station. Visuals of the station were also checked but we found nothing. At 9 PM, we got information that his body is found in Ghaziabad area", stated the police officer.
Prior to Buxar, Pandey had worked in Begusarai's Ballia sub-division as an SDM (sub-divisional magistrate) and in Katihar as a DDC. Having secured the 14th All-India rank in IAS in 2012, Pandey was a stern officer with an impeccable track record.
