RAJKOT: A woman was arrested on Wednesday night for allegedly attempting to kill her husband and son eat using a poisonous rotlo, a bread made of bajra (pearl millet) in Meghpar Kumbharadi village of Anjar taluka in Kutch district.

The incident occurred on Monday evening. Both Duda Rathod (56) and his son Narsinh Rathod (20) were rendered unconscious after eating the rotlo served by Hemi Rathod (52). Ironically, it was Hemi who took both her son and husband to first a private hospital in Adipur and from there to GK General Hospital in Bhuj.

"When the father-son duo regained consciousness, they told us that Hemi had poisoned their food. The doctors also confirmed that it was a case of food poisoning. When interrogated, Hemi confessed that she had poisoned the rotlo," said an official from Anjar police station.

Hemi told the cops that both her husband and son suspected her of having an extra-marital affair, which led to frequent domestic quarrels. Tired of this, she decided to kill both of them.

Police have booked Hemi under section 307 of Indian Penal Code, pertaining to attempt to murder, on the complaint of Mohan Rathod, nephew of Duda Rathod.
