Jagjeet's mother, in her complaint, stated, "Jagjeet got married to Rajni in 2010. He was staying in village Lakhnaura with his wife. Initially, for 3-4 years, Rajni was happy with Jagjeet but later, she developed an extramarital affair with Vikram. We tried our best to persuade them to end their relationship but they continued the affair. On Thursday at around 8.30pm, I went to Jagjeet's house and called him. I saw Vikram leaving the house in a haste and Rajni was sitting inside. I witnessed my son was hanging to the iron guarder in his room."

Naraingarh station house officer Harbhajan said, "We have arrested the accused Rajni who was today presented before the court, which has sent her on a one-day police remand. Vikram is absconding. During the interrogation, we would investigate the reasons behind the death of Jagjeet. The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members for last rites."
