Pune, 16th July 2021: A 34-year-old woman has been detained by Pune city police for allegedly killing her husband and then hanging his body to make it look like a case of suicide. However, their minor daughter revealed the plot during the cremation.

The deceased has been identified as Deepak Balveer Sonar (36), a resident of Guruwar Peth. Police have detained his wife Radhika Deepak Sonar (34).

According to police, Deepak worked as a guard. He lived with his wife and daughter in a Wada in Guruwar Peth. His wife Radhika works in a cloth store. Deepak was addicted to alcohol. As his wife came home late at night from work, he used to suspect her character. This led to frequent arguments between the couple.

After Radhika came home from work on Monday night (July 12), they had an argument. At that time, she beat Deepak with a bat and then strangled him to death. She hanged his body in the bathroom so that the police would not have any suspicion. After that Radhika went out of the house for two days. When she returned, she told her relatives that her husband Deepak had died by suicide.

Police rushed to the spot and sent the body to Sassoon Hospital for autopsy. Later, during Deepak’s funeral, his daughter told relatives that her mother had murdered her father. The relatives then informed the police.

Accordingly, the police have taken Radhika in custody. Further investigations are being carried out by Khadak police station.
