Woman, paramour held for man’s murder in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A woman, who allegedly joined hands with her paramour to kill her husband, who was HIV positive and harassed her physically, was arrested along with her paramour here on Wednesday.

The arrest came exactly two weeks after the husband’s body was found mysteriously on the roadside in Ankireddypally. The Rachakonda Special Operations jointly with the LB Nagar police cracked the case and arrested T Lavanya (22), a domestic help and Veera Ramakrishna (21), a watchman. Both were residents of Neredmet and natives of East Godavari in Andhra Pradesh.

The victim was T Durga Rao (40), a driver from Rajahmundry. According to police, Rao was a chronic tuberculosis patient and was infected with HIV. Lavanya, whom he married in 2013 and had two children with, was his second wife, with Rao allegedly keeping her in the dark about his first marriage.

Ramakrishna is a distant relative of Lavanya and used to accompany her to the hospital during her delivery, leading to intimacy between them. "She later came to know that her husband was an HIV patient and started maintaining a distance from him. On the other hand, Rao harassed her for a physical relationship," police said.

In September, the couple moved to Hyderabad and Ramakrishna arranged a rented room for them in RK Puram in Neredmet and used to visit her in Rao’s absence. On the night of October 31, when Rao returned home, he found Ramakrishna and Lavyana together. He grew furious and started abusing them.

"A scuffle took place between the couple. Ramakrishna tried to separate them but he fought with them instead. Lavanya grabbed an iron rod and beat Rao on the head. Later both strangulated him with a dupatta," police said.

Ramakrishna and Lavanya, borrowing a car from Ramakrishna’s employer Ansari, stuffed the body in the car and went along the Keesara highway and dumped the body on the roadside. While Ramakrishna returned to work as usual, Lavanya went to Kakinada along with her children. Special teams collected surveillance camera footage and found the car moving suspiciously, after which Ramakrishna was taken into custody. He spilled the beans during interrogation.
