The police have arrested a Kerala-based woman in Nagpur in connection with the murder of her husband.

Swathi, a native of Thenkurissi in Palakkad, was nabbed after it emerged that her husband Nithin Nair was murdered. Nithin, a native of Kayamkulam, was found dead in his rented house in Nagpur on April 29.

Swathi had informed the police that Nithin died after falling down and hitting his head. However, the post-mortem report revealed that Nitin was choked to death. This led to doubts about Swathi's involvement in the killing.

After Nithin was cremated, Swathi had returned to her parents who were residing in Madhya Pradesh. The whole family went missing after the police registered a case for murder.

Swathi, who was a divorcee, got married to Nitin in September 2016. Nithin's father, who was undergoing treatment at Wockhardt Heart Hospital in Nagpur, also died soon after his son's death.
