Meerut: In a shocking incident reported from Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, a 19-year-old youth was allegedly beaten to death when he went to meet his girlfriend at her home.

The incident took place in Atora village under Mawana police station area in the district on Friday night.

Meanwhile, police have arrested five persons including the girlfriend of the victim. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Abhishek Gurjar, a student of BA third year.

The victim allegedly had an affair with the girl who is from his village. The event fateful incident unfolded when the family of the girl caught her talking to Abhishek. They checked her mobile and found at least 12 calls from her to the victim.

The girl's family members allegedly forced her to call Abhishek to her house following which he was brutally beaten to death. Later, the victim's body was packed in a sack and dumped in a pond.

There was a panic in the village when the body was recovered on Saturday morning. Police have arrested the girl, her father Anuj, grandfather Mahipal, uncle Omkar and cousin brother Abhishek.

SP (Rural) Keshav Kumar said the accused have allegedly confessed to their crime during questioning. The accused have now been sent to jail.

According to a report in Hindi daily Hindustan, the girl's family had knowledge about the girl's affair with the victim. Earlier, a panchayat was also held in the village which ordered the two not to meet again.

Abhishek's father said the girl's family had threatened to kill the youth several times. The murder took place around 11pm on Friday. Abhishek did not know that the girl's family was forcing her to call him and planned to murder him.
