By India Today Web Desk: A 29-year-old Bengaluru man died by suicide after the girl to whom he was engaged refused to marry him. The girl’s family had heard some rumours and had decided to call off the wedding. When the victim tried to sort out the issue, he was allegedly humiliated and forced out of the girl’s house, resulting in him taking his own life.

The boy’s father has filed a case of abetment to suicide against the girl, her mother and a relative, who are all absconding. It has also been alleged that the accused told the victim to end his life or they would kill him if he disturbed the girl any further.

The deceased man, identified as Mohan Kumar, took his own life near his fiance’s home at Hosapalya on Magadi Road, reported The New Indian Express. He was a resident of Thippasandra in Magadi and worked in a private firm.

His fiance has been identified as Kavyashree. According to the report by TNIE, Kumar’s family had encouraged Kavyashree to continue her studies after the wedding and had also given the girl’s family Rs 10 lakh for the wedding arrangements.

RUMOURS & FALLOUT

However, after Kavyashree’s family got to know some rumours about Kumar, they summoned him to their house and demanded that he cancel the wedding. Further, they also refused to return the money, stated the TNIE report.

When Kumar and his parents went to Kavyashree’s house later to sort out the issue, he was allegedly humiliated and forcibly pushed out of the house. Upset over this humiliation and the wedding being cancelled, Kumar killed himself by hanging.

Kumar’s father, 60-year-old Rangaswamaiah, filed a case of abetment of suicide against Kavyashree, her mother Varalakshmamma, and a relative identified as Jayaramaiah.

"The accused are absconding. We are checking if the victim has left a death note. Kumar is alleged to have given money to Varalakshmamma and Kavyashree on September 17," said an officer, as quoted by TNIE.

VICTIM WAS THREATENED

It has further been alleged that the accused told Kumar to end his life or that they would kill him if he tried to further disturb Kavyashree, after which Kumar returned home with his parents.

Post this, he left for his work at around 3.30 am. Approximately four hours later, he went near his fiancee’s house and committed suicide.

Police have registered a case and are hunting for the three accused, who are absconding. Officials are also proving whether Kumar left behind a suicide note. Further investigations are underway.
