Woman held over husband's murder
A 30-year-old woman, Jumai Bamaiyi, was yesterday remanded by a Magistrate's Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, for allegedly killing her husband, Bamaiyi Aiki.
The case, according to the First Information Report, was transferred from Kaiama Division to the Department of Criminal Investigation Ilorin.
It stated that on October 17, one Garuba Dauda, the Sarikin Zulu of Kamaiji, reported at Kaiama Division that on the same date, the accused killed her husband by hitting him on the head with a pestle.
The prosecution said investigation conducted revealed that Jumai and her husband had a misunderstanding and that it was based on that, that she hit him with a pestle.
The court did not take the plea due to lack of jurisdiction.
The police prosecutor, Zacch Funsho, argued against the bail application of the accused and urged the court to adjourn for further mention as investigation is still on-going.
In his ruling, Magistrate A.A. Bello ordered the remand of the accused at Federal Prison Yard, Oke-Kura and adjourned the case to December 4.
