Rudrapur: The city police, on Friday, arrested a man, his wife and daughter for allegedly killing his son-in-law. The victim was strangled to death by the trio and later hung from a hook in the roof and made to look like a suicide. The postmortem report revealed that the man was killed before being hanged. The victim, identified as Surendra Singh (30), was a fourth grade employee at the animal husbandry department of GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar in Udham Singh Nagar district.
According to police, Surendra was married to Kanchan, resident of Dudhiya Nagar in the city, four years ago. The relations between the duo were not good from the very beginning. On May 28, Kanchan had left for her home after a feud with her husband. Surendra reached her home to placate her on May 30. On Friday morning, Surendra was found hanging from a hook in the balcony of his in-laws' house.
Kanchan's father, Ashok Kumar, called his kin and told them that their son-in-law had committed suicide. Surendra's brother-in-law filed a complaint with the police alleging that he has been murdered. The police sent the body for postmortem and the autopsy report suggested that Surendra was strangled to death before being hanged.
Police arrested Ashok Kumar, his wife Omkala and daughter Kanchan, who upon interrogation confessed that they had killed Surendra. The three have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and sent to jail.
