MOHALI: The Mohali police have registered a murder case against a woman after her husband was found dead at his residence during the early hours of Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Phool Kumar, a resident of Mataur village. His wife Sapna has been booked for murder charges by the Mataur police.
The police said they received information on Monday from the deceased’s brother Shri Pal that his brother died on Sunday night under mysterious circumstances.
The body was later kept at the civil hospital, Phase VI. The last rites were performed after the proceedings.
"During the initial proceedings, we had registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPc, but after the postmortem report mentioned internal bleeding, we registered a case under Section 302 at Mataur police station," said ASI Lakhwinder Singh, investigation officer in the case.
Shri Pal also stated that one of his relatives, Matha Devi, who lives with them, told him that earlier on Sunday, Phool and his wife Sapna had a fight following which Sapna hit him on his head with a blunt weapon. She also told Shri Pal that Phool was in pain since afternoon.
Inspector Rajiv Kumar, SHO, Mataur police station, said, "Hunts are on to nab the accused."
