An on-duty RPF constable from Uttar Pradesh shot himself in a moving train near Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh late on Thursday night.
According to railway police, RS Panwar, an RPF constable with Yerraguntla post under Guntakal division of South Central Railway zone, was found lifeless near the washrooms on train no. 11027, Mumbai CST to Chennai central, late on Thursday night.
Police sources said RS Panwar, along with another constable G Ravindra Reddy, were on escort duty on the train. The two were carrying two 9 mm pistols and 10 rounds of ammunition each.
Ravindra Reddy came across Panwar’s body near the washrooms, with one of the pistols in his hand when the train was ten minutes away from Nandalur railway station in Kadapa.
Ravindra Reddy alerted Yerraguntla and Kadapa posts and shifted the body onto platform no. 1 at Nandalur railway station with the help of some passengers.
Sources said the deceased constable, from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, was troubled by family disputes.
A case was registered by railway police and the body shifted for autopsy.
